ARGON PLASMA
The treatment of the anastomosis with argon plasma is indicated to patients that were submitted to the bariatric surgery and didn’t had enough loss of weight or presented a gain of weight. In many cases, this treatment occurs after the second year, ad might be earlier or later.
The surgical anastomosis is calibrated for a passage of about 10 to 12mm, but it can increase over time, associated or not to the gastric neocamera dilatation. In these situations, it’s indicated the therapy with ablation by argon. The anastomosis thermal burn causes a cycle of tissue repair with the formation of fibrosis and, thus, contributing for the reduction of the anastomosis diameter with the loss of weight. In general, it’s needed 1 to 3 sessions.
The procedure is safe and has proven to be effective for the loss of weight of the operated patients. It may be performed in a clinical way and with a endovenous sedation. It’s performed by an endoscopist doctor, experienced with the bariatric endoscopy and clinical environments.
All therapeutic endoscopic procedures must be performed within the hospital. It doesn’t mean that the patient will be hospitalized and, in most cases, the patient leaves after the procedure termination, after being wide awake.
